Properties Powder. Slightly turbid solution; gel strength (1.5%): ~1 000 g/cm². A natural hydrocolloid extracted from several species of red algae, mainly Gelidium, Gracilaria and Pterocladia types. It is specially for the preparation of culture media and other bacteriological applications, in which it is necssary to reduce the agar content maintaining the desired gelling properties.
